Alexandria, VA

This lovely home and backyard was renovated to fit the needs of active family of five so they could entertain all their friends and family. The pool existed and was surrounded by lovely mature flowering trees, but access was limited, and there was no room to lounge and entertain poolside.

A new set of stairs coming off the lawn was cut into the side and centered on the pool house. A large deciduous magnolia was moved and a wall cut to build out the deck area to lounge by the pool.

To expand the entertaining space, a retaining wall was built to create a dining area and a place to gather around a fire pit. Lilacs, panicle and mop head hydrangeas, swaths of perennials, grasses and boxwood create a garden that is abundant with romance.
